Wonder Boy in Monster World is the fifth game in the Wonder Boy series. In the game you play as a young man named Shion, who must defeat an invading force of monsters. While Wonder Boy in Monster World is a platformer style game it does include some RPG themes, some of which include increasing your life bar and equipping different types of armor, weapons, and magic. There is one save slot that can only be used at inns throughout the world, but be sure not to die otherwise you will be greeted with a “Game Over” screen.

Cute game, but the pace is a little too slow for my taste. Makes me wonder though…this game came out the same year as A Link to the Past, right? So which one had the ocarina idea first? I’m guessing Zelda, but that would be funny if they actually jacked it lol. Or was the ocarina present in one of the first two Zelda’s?
I’m not completely sure, but I think the first time a ocarina appears in a Zelda game it is in Link’s Awakening.
As for this particular game, yes it does start off pretty slow, but I’m not sure what it is like after the first boss because I haven’t made it past that point yet. I guess I’m stuck with the game though so I’ll probably end up playing it some more to see if I actually like it or not.
