Sonic 3D Blast
Monday November19, 2007 7:02 am in Sega Genesis
The evil Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Robotnik) stumbles upon an alternate dimension where some odd birds called Flickies have the ability to travel anywhere. In order to get help in his search for the Chaos Emeralds, Dr. Eggman transforms the Flickies into robots that will help him track down his coveted gems. Of course, it’s up to our favorite blue hedgehog, Sonic, to step in and save the day. Jump into this 3-D adventure as Sonic or his buddy Tails, and collect the golden rings to help free the Flickies and defeat the doctor.

The music in this game is godly, though I’ve never played it (outside of the occasional in-store demo back in the day).
Actually, I think I’m referring to the CD version, not the genesis (the one composed by Richard Jacques).
But on another interesting note, a few of the tracks from this game were remade in Sonic Adventure 1.
Not to nitpick but you can’t play as Tails in any of the 4 (Mega Drive, Genesis, Saturn & PC) Sonic 3D Blasts.
