Video Demo: Sonic 3D Blast

December 27, 2007 5:17 pm

Yes, it is true. I have finally brought back the video demo feature for Virtual Console Mondays! This time around I bring to your viewing pleasure, Sonic 3D Blast for the Sega Genesis. It truly is a fun game, but a bit awkward controlling at first. I’ll just skip the small talk and go straight into the movie after the jump.

Sorry about the jumpiness in the video, I’m still trying to figure out the best settings for recording with my new hardware. I’ll rerecord a new video after I figure out better settings.

Problems

October 25, 2007 2:36 pm

Today I turned on the PC that I use to record the video demos, but all that could be heard was beeps and nothing came up on screen. This basically means that until I get enough money to buy a USB TV tuner for my laptop there won’t be any new video demos for a while. Luckily, I just got a new job, which means I’ll have some money coming in eventually and I’ll be able to buy a tuner a lot sooner. Sorry for the bad news, but it truly is sad to see my first home made PC die after 5+ years of use, at least I still have my laptop.

R.I.P. old friend.

I’ll be sure to keep the situation updated.

Video Demo: Legend of Hero Tonma

October 19, 2007 5:18 pm

After a long day at school and a job interview (and yes I got the job) I have finally gotten this week’s video demo ready to go. This week I decided on the virtual console game, Legend of Hero Tonma which is a TurboGrafx-16 game. All in all, I had fun with the sort amount of time that I spent with this particular game. There was a bit of difficulty in the first two levels so far, but in this video I only played through the first level of the game. So, check out the new video demo after the jump.

**Attention** I am considering bringing on someone to help me out with the virtual console updates on Monday’s because my new job conflicts with the time the information is available to update. If you are interested in helping out with the site go to the contact page and shoot me an email with a little info. about yourself, why you would like to help out, and a short write up that you think would fit into this site. Thanks ahead of time, and enjoy this week’s virtual console video demo!

Video Demo: Fatal Fury

October 11, 2007 4:29 pm

With the event of a new system being added to the virtual console line up I decided that this week’s video demo would be one from the three avaliable Neo-Geo games that can now be played on the Wii. The game that I decided on this week is SNK’s Fatal Fury. To tell the truth, I wasn’t sure how hard or fun this game was going to be because I’ve never played a single Neo-Geo game until now, but this particular game does seem to have a pretty tough AI to fight against or maybe it is just the small list of moves available. Either way the game is challenging and fun at the same time. Now that we have that out of the way, check out the latest virtual console video demo after the jump.

Video Demo: Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels

October 4, 2007 5:06 pm

Well this week’s video demo is a bit later than usual, but none the less it is ready. The virtual console game that was picked this week is Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels, which was just released this Monday and is in fact the true sequel to the first Super Mario. Bros. game. This SMB2 plays exactly like the original and look almost the same as well, but is considerably more difficult. Actually the level of difficulty is quite apparent from the very beginning of the game. With out any more wasting of precious time, follow the jump to watch this week’s video demo of the virtual console game Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels.

Video: NES Tournament Golf

September 27, 2007 2:51 pm

Thursday is here, so get ready for another virtual console video demo! This week I decided to go for a sports game on the virtual console and after a bit of looking around I decided on NES Tournament Golf, for the original Nintendo of course. At first the game was pretty hard, but after taking a practice run I started to figure out the whole system to this particular golf game. One thing that makes this a tough game is that other than the max distance listed for the club you are using there is no easy way to judge how far the ball will go when you hit it. Apart from some of the difficulty NES Tournament Golf turned out to be a pretty fun game, even if it is a pretty old golf game. With out any further rambling, just follow the jump to check out this week’s video demo on the virtual console.

Video Demo: Bonk 3

September 20, 2007 3:04 pm

Yes, it’s Thursday again and I have another video demo of a virtual console game up and ready to go. The virtual console game that I picked this week is TurboGrafx-16 game, Bonk 3. I haven’t every played any of the games from the Bonk series, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I found this game to be pretty fun. I just wish I had a second person to try out some 2 player action. Any ways, its a good game so check out the video and maybe buy it on the Wii if it perks your curiosity.

Video Demo: Super C

September 13, 2007 1:06 pm

This week’s video demo on the virtual console is Super C, which is a great old Nintendo game. Super C, as you should know, is the sequel to Contra (still unreleased). The game play is basically the same, but with some slight differences. This time around I played through the first level of the game, although it took me quite a few practice runs so that I wouldn’t die before completing the level. One sad note about Super C is the fact that the Konami code has been replaced with a more weak code (Right, Left, Down, Up, A, B, Start) which only gives you 10 lives instead of the 30 given to you in the original Contra game. The game is still fun to play and quite tough to beat, so check out this weeks virtual console video demo after the jump.

Video Demo: Adventure Island

September 6, 2007 2:37 pm

After a lot of fuss with my wireless connection on the Wii, I finally managed to get it to download a new virtual console game. This week the video demo game is Adventure Island, which is a decent platformer game that was originally on the original Nintendo. In this video I play through the first two levels of the game, but I managed to die once while doing so. There really isn’t much else to say about the video other than sorry for the lower quality. Each game seems to require different settings for recording, once I get enough money set to the side I plan on buying a new TV tuner. Until then, I’ll just have to settle for what the current card can pull off.

Enough with the chit-chat and on with this week’s video demo of another game on the virtual console!
